Graphite Features
  • No Melting Temperature
    No change of the mechanical properties through thermal Influence
    No thermal buckling during electric-discharge machining
    Graphite sublimates at about 3600°C, Copper melts at only 1085°C

  • Low coefficient of expansion
    Only about 1/6 of the copper coefficient

  • Free of Internall Stresses
    No warping or bending during electrode making or during electric discharge machining

  • Dimensionally Stable
    Cross-sections or wall thickness from 0.30 mm is no problem
  • Low Weight
    Graphite weighs five times less for low loads on Z-axis and easy handling

  • Higher removal
    Larger energy supply is possible with lower wear on electrodes
    Copper                                 :                7 ampere/cm2
    EDM-standard graphite    :                12 ampere/cm2
    EDM-fine graphite              :                20 ampere/cm2

  • Higher resistance to wear
    Graphite is selected by grade to match the EDM task.  With copper, you are forced to accept higher wear for high removal rates

  • Fast electrode manufacture
    Creates Machine Capacity.
    Milling                    :                 5 to 10 times faster
    Grinding                :                 up to 25 times faster
  • Accurate Fine electrodes
    The manufacture of fine, small and complicated electrodes is no problem and yields burr-free accurate details
